EPC delivery: 160 tons of power

The Hydraulic Power Unit (HPU) delivered to Hydralift is a good example of how the Jotne companies work together on EPC contracts. The HPU is installed on Stena Tay, a floating platform which drills for oil at depths greater than 1000 meters off the coast of Brazil.

The HPU is among the largest ever produced for offshore use. Its capacity is 12,000 liters per minute at 350 bars. The HPU weighs nearly 160 tons and consists of 26 hydraulic pumps, a hydraulic central unit, a hydraulic oil tank and a ventilation system. The total effect of the HPU is approximately 8 MW. All components are built into a steel frame with an insulated cover.

Jotne Prosjekt was responsible for the engineering and manufacturing contract with Hydralift.

Its sister company, EPM Consultants, did specific design work on pipes, equipment and structures, mechanical strength analysis and general engineering.

The entire structure, with all its components, was manufactured and assembled by Jotne Fremo in Fredrikstad.
