FAIR information services - a new partner for EPM TechnologyPublished 1998-03-25
EPM Technology has signed a non-exclusive agreement with FAIR information services BV in Amsterdam. It gives FAIR the right to distribute EPM's software in the Benelux countries, i.e. Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg.
FAIR is a young but experienced partner. The majority of the more than two hundred IT professionals employed by the company are specializing in a variety of disciplines and have their background from the aircraft industry. This is one of the most demanding industries in terms of technology, logistics and support. Furthermore FAIR has in-house access to state-of-the-art experience through its relationship with its parent companies, Roccade Informatica Groep NV and IBM Nederland NV. Independently, together with the parent companies or other reputable partners, FAIR is able to carry out extensive and complex IT projects. The FAIR services are delivered via three logical units, Design, Build and Support. In addition, FAIR has a large number of business and IT specialists. Engineering projects are in the field of business process analysis, product data management and 3D modeling/digital mock-up. The logistics experience includes projects in the area of manufacturing, purchasing and the interface with product design. Extensive knowledge is available about policies and concepts for 'on-demand' database publishing (integration of SGML with corporate databases), document control, international standards, various output-media and IT-infrastructure. At present FAIR is involved in the PIE project of British Aerospace Military Aircraft & Aerostructures (BAe). The objective is to implement a new Product Data Management environment within BAe for managing product data from the conceptual phase to product disposal, using IBM's ProductManager: (see The EXPRESSway 3/97). For moving and translating data between Computervision's PDM system OPTEGRA (at BAe-Airbus) and ProductManager, a general translator has been developed using EPM Technology's EXPRESS Data Manager. FAIR's contribution is the definition and implementation of the translator environment between ProductManager and AP203 (and later the PDM schema). Future plans exist to use EXPRESS Data Manager in other collaborative projects. The distribution agreement between EPM Technology and FAIR information services is effective immediately. |
