Shipping update:

Increasing use of EXPRESS Data Manager

Published 1997-10-28
Shipping activities are increasing in numbers and importance worldwide, and EPM Technology is proud to be part of this expansion.

The Spanish corporation SENER has chosen EXPRESS Data Manager. As a ship engineering company SENER has designed a variety of ships for both the merchant and naval fleets worldwide. SENER is the leading CAD/CAM vendor for shipping applications and will incorporate EDM in their CAD and CAE systems in order to achieve significant improvements in the quality and control of their projects, based on ISO 10303.

The U.S. NAVY and DARPA MariSTEP program, one of the largest STEP projects in the world, is well into phase two of the project. Cost-reduction and life-cycle support are the main objectives, achieved by speeding up the technical data interchange between U.S. ship-yards and related industries. As a means to achieve these goals, EXPRESS Data Manager training classes for MariSTEP participants are held at Computervision's training facilities in Bedford, Massachusetts by EPM representatives.

Three of the largest classification societies in the world are all embracing EPM Technology's products: Lloyd's Register of Shipping, American Bureau of Shipping, and Det Norske Veritas. Together these companies control 52.5% of the world's commercial fleet.

EXPRESS Data Manager provides solutions for the storage and management of the ship's classification data, operational data models, technical data from the building process and interchange of the data between partners.
