EDMmodelConverterThe EDMmodelConverter' enables you to convert data described by one EXPRESS schema into a format described by another EXPRESS schema.
When the conversion is complete, the new model is ready to be used in the database, exported as a STEP physical file, or loaded into another database of any type (relational, object oriented, etc.). This can be useful, for example, if you need to map and translate data between two or more databases. The conversion is done according to a mapping schema written in EXPRESS-X, the language used to describe the conditions for conversion. The EDMmodelConverter™ is a complete interpreter of the EXPRESS-X language which is, basically, EXPRESS (ISO 10303-Part 11) plus additional constructs. The EDMmodelConverter™ with EXPRESS-X has many advantages. Among other things, this combination:
The EDMmodelConverter™ includes an EXPRESS-X compiler to validate the mapping schema and set up a dictionary model which is the definition for the actual conversion process. The data model that results from the conversion is saved automatically in the EDM database. It can be exported as a STEP physical file (ISO 10303-Part 21) and, thus, used by virtually any system.
Technical requirementsThe EDMmodelConverter™ must be installed on a system that has the EDMdeveloperSeat™.All trademarks and registered trademarks are the sole property of their respective companies or organizations. Schema samples are used with permission from Statoil and the Åsgard Project. |
