EDMserver™A Product Model Server capable of storing all
your data for complex systems, including native support for any standard data model, like IFC, STEP, PLM/PLCS or Reference Data Libraries. The unified database system you need to manage the life cycle for your products and systems, using a model driven architecture.
EDMserver™ makes all product details, not just visual details, available to a variety of users during all phases of engineering, development, production, operation and maintenance. Ultimately, the EXPRESS Data Manager ™helps transform many business theories into realistic business goals; goals which will ensure a strategic, competitive edge for projects and companies, large or small:
The examples here:EDMserver™ used for IFC applications (PDF) EDMserver™ for PLCS applications (PDF) EDMserver™ for Ontology based applications EXPRESS Data Manager™ general information (PDF) Technical material for programmers to download Whenever you need to manage non-trivial amounts of data, or whenever non-trivial ways of manipulating your data is required, you must use a Database Management System (DBMS). Simply using your file system will not do. General-purpose relational DBMSs are excellent tools for a wide range of administrative data management challenges. But these products lack the specialized features that are necessary in certain application domains. That’s why you find a number of niche products vendors in the database industry, catering for particular needs not adequately met by the general-purpose products. EPM Technology is such a vendor, and our product suitem EXPRESS Data Manager™ (EDM) has been built specifically to manage the extremely complex data structures found in military and industrial applications that deal with what is generally known as product data models. This could for example be 3D models of buildings, ships, or airplanes or related PLM or BIM applications. Not only do such data models tend to have a level of complexity way beyond what could feasibly be implemented in a relational database, but when dealing with these data models one usually encounters a strong need to support population rules andintegrity constraints. EDMserver™EDMserver™ is the central part of the suite and contains the EDM database. The architecture of this database is corresponding 100% with the logic of the EXPRESS language and the structure of the STEP, PLCS and IFC product descriptions. The EXPRESS logic is also reflected in the in the embedded EDMexpressVM™ (Virtual Machine) that is the engine used when manipulating the data in the database.
The strength of the EXPRESS Data Manager™ is not only in the database itself but also the comprehensive environment of functional software tools EPM Technology is proposing to ensure an efficient and secure storage, retrieval and maintenance of the database. Much of the efficiency gain by using EXPRESS Data Manager™ is embedded in these highly functional products. |
