International glass production: The heat is on

The Jotne Group manufactures two and three-stage heat exchangers for the international glass industry. In close cooperation with ReCom Heat Recovery, based in Sweden, exchangers and other equipment have recently been delivered to projects in Scandinavia, India, Egypt, Kenya, Portugal, Malaysia, Ireland and Algerie.

"Designing and fabricating equipment of this kind requires careful selection of materials and methods," says Gunnar Mainitz, managing director of Jotne Fremo. "For instance, the thermal expansion of the various materials at extreme temperatures must be taken into account during fabrication. Our staff's many years of experience constitute a valuable asset."

The equipment must endure temperatures up to 1100°C. Due to wear and tear, glass furnaces need to be totally renovated every seven or eight years.

Jotne Fremo also produces components for heat-recovery technologies used at waste incineration plants.
