JMSA has developed AP226 Ship Mechanical Systems Prototype

Published 2001-06-20
Japan Marine Standards Association (JMSA) has developed AP226 Ship Mechanical Systems Prototype in its Ship/STEP sub committee. This implementation is focused on the pump and heat exchanger elements of ship machinery.

The purpose of this implementation is to establish STEP AP226 tech-nology, and to contribute to develop a business scenario of the advantages provided by STEP. The system can import and export three kinds of different files, such as CSV file, STEP file and XML file, for each direction.

This means a company can export their data as STEP format from legacy system using CSV, and import STEP into its existing system as CSV format. And also related people can view and check the data using web browser exporting to XML. This will lead people to become more familiar with STEP and help them to develop their own business scenarios. This system covers two different protocols of STEP/AP226 and PLiB dictionary, which is a key item in AP226 implementation. In this implementation, EPM's Express Data Manager™ has an important role, where powerful "EDMmodelConverter" functionality (Express-X) is fully employed to make mapping between the different kinds of data (CSV, STEP, XML, etc). The implementation work itself is done by Fujitsu STEP R&D Center, who are members of JMSA Ship/STEP sub committee, and a strong partner of EPM Technology in Japan.
