Ready for gas ferry deliveries

The Jotne Group designs systems and equipment using liquid natural gas (LNG) as fuel for car ferries. The Norwegian authorities, led by Veidirektoratet (the Directorate of Public Roads), has taken the initiative to test LNG for use in ferry traffic, primarily for the environmental benefits it offers. LNG produces less carbon dioxide (CO2) and poisonous nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions, and there are no sulphur emissions at all.

What's inside a platform leg?

Each of the four legs of the Visund platform is equipped with an aluminium spiral staircase designed and manufactured by the Jotne Group. Each staircase is approximately 40 meters high, which compares to a 14 floor building on land.

Seal-tube system vital to gas-pipe pull-in

New, innovative technology from the Jotne Group contributed to the successful pull-in of the Åsgard transport gas pipe. The pipe line, operated by Statoil, brings gas all the way from the Halten bank, northeast of Trondheim, to Kårstø and further to the continent in the Europipe II gas pipe.

New life for traditional dockyards

The past few years have seen a resurgence of activity in the Jotne Group's dry dock and dock area in Fredrikstad. The dock is 296 meters long and previously belonged to Fredrikstad Mekaniske Verksted (FMV), which built ships up to 130 000 tons in size here. It is now used for ships needing repair, testing of subsea systems and other industrial activities.

The Hydraulic Power Unit (HPU) delivered to Hydralift is a good example of how the Jotne companies work together on EPC contracts. The HPU is installed on Stena Tay, a floating platform which drills for oil at depths greater than 1000 meters off the coast of Brazil.

Big launch for pigging tool

A pig launcher engineered and manufactured by the Jotne Group is vital for the maintenance of the gas pipeline system on the seabed off the Norwegian coast. The pig launcher is part of the Åsgard Export Riser Base (ERB) and Åsgard Transport, an extensive system of gas pipelines built by Statoil.

Reducing noise levels
