Arnfinn Unum, the new president and CEO of Jotne AS, has his background from the vendor industry in the oil and gas related markets. For a number of years, he held key positions in Kværner Process Systems, a company he founded together with Kværner and a management team in 1989.

The Jotne Group has been awarded the contract to deliver the separator package to the Norsk Hydro Grane project. The package consists of two separators - one for 1st and one for 2nd stage separation - two coalescers as well as a test separator.

Continuous commitment and hard work have produced results for the Jotne sailing team. This year, the Group's 11 meter One-Design yacht has been one of the fastest in the Norwegian ranking regatta series.

Over the years, the Jotne Group has manufactured more than 90 complete process packages for the Norwegian offshore industry. Jotne Ankers has produced and coordinated most of them, often working closely with sister companies Jotne Fremo and Jotne SB-Verksted.

Heidrun is a tension-leg platform in concrete and, at the moment, is the only one of its kind in Norway. The platform stands 350 m deep in the Heidrun field just off the coast of Nord-Trøndelag.

The Jotne Group designs systems and equipment using liquid natural gas (LNG) as fuel for car ferries. The Norwegian authorities, led by Veidirektoratet (the Directorate of Public Roads), has taken the initiative to test LNG for use in ferry traffic, primarily for the environmental benefits it offers. LNG produces less carbon dioxide (CO2) and poisonous nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions, and there are no sulphur emissions at all.

Each of the four legs of the Visund platform is equipped with an aluminium spiral staircase designed and manufactured by the Jotne Group. Each staircase is approximately 40 meters high, which compares to a 14 floor building on land.

More than 100,000 tanks and pressure vessels have been manufactured by Jotne SB-Verksted in Drammen during the years. Practically all petroleum companies in Norway are on the company's customers list.

New, innovative technology from the Jotne Group contributed to the successful pull-in of the Åsgard transport gas pipe. The pipe line, operated by Statoil, brings gas all the way from the Halten bank, northeast of Trondheim, to Kårstø and further to the continent in the Europipe II gas pipe.

"The Jotne Group aims to meet the demand for products and technologies that can reduce pollution and contribute to a cleaner and healthier environment. One such technology is Waste Heat Recovery," says Kjell Høglo of Jotne Project.

The past few years have seen a resurgence of activity in the Jotne Group's dry dock and dock area in Fredrikstad. The dock is 296 meters long and previously belonged to Fredrikstad Mekaniske Verksted (FMV), which built ships up to 130 000 tons in size here. It is now used for ships needing repair, testing of subsea systems and other industrial activities.

The Hydraulic Power Unit (HPU) delivered to Hydralift is a good example of how the Jotne companies work together on EPC contracts. The HPU is installed on Stena Tay, a floating platform which drills for oil at depths greater than 1000 meters off the coast of Brazil.

A pig launcher engineered and manufactured by the Jotne Group is vital for the maintenance of the gas pipeline system on the seabed off the Norwegian coast. The pig launcher is part of the Åsgard Export Riser Base (ERB) and Åsgard Transport, an extensive system of gas pipelines built by Statoil.

The Jotne Group has developed, designed and delivered equipment for the Norwegian Army Material Command. Jotne Ankers has manufactured a large number of multi-purpose frames for use on the "light tracked over snow vehicle" BV 206.

Designing and manufacturing subsea equipment and tools is a fast growing business area for the Jotne Group.

Jotne Fremo has been approved by Det Norske Veritas (DNV) as a manufacturer of transport containers for gas turbines.

In recent years, rolling stock has been a growing market for the Jotne Group.

The Jotne Group is in a good position to deliver what is needed for Combined Steam Bottoming Cycle Units, an emerging technology for offshore use.

Alcatel Kabel in Halden is using three turn-tables for cable deliveries produced by the Jotne Group. The turn-tables are designed by EPM Consultants and manufactured and installed by Jotne Fremo, while Jotne Prosjekt coordinates the contracts.

Industrial production sometimes has unwanted effects on the environment. This is the case at the Jøtul cast iron manufacturing facility located in a residential area in Fredrikstad. The neighbours have complained about noise from the factory, which produces stoves and fireplaces.

When the high-speed ferry Ulstein Turbiner started operating in 1999, a new type of gas turbine engine, developed in a cooperative European project, received its baptism of fire.

Another job that has been helped along by EPM Consultants has to do with antennas for the METOP satellite that will be placed in orbit in 2002. METOP is part of the European Space Agency's (ESA) earth observation program and will be used to gather information about wind and weather.

The Jotne Group manufactures two and three-stage heat exchangers for the international glass industry. In close cooperation with ReCom Heat Recovery, based in Sweden, exchangers and other equipment have recently been delivered to projects in Scandinavia, India, Egypt, Kenya, Portugal, Malaysia, Ireland and Algerie.

The Jotne Group has recently helped Norsk Hydro and others with a series of gas related engineering projects. A few examples of these are:
At Sauda, where Eramet has taken over the production plant, Jotne has been responsible for condition monitoring (beneficiation inspections) and verification of the carbon oxide (CO) pipeline network.

EPM Technology (EPMT) is a software company that offers a solution for management of product data focusing on information content and usefulness. The cornerstone is EXPRESS Data Manager, which is marketed world-wide to companies that seek traceability between specification and product. The over-all business goal is a 50% reduction of lead time and 25% reduction of overall cost.

CERN, the European Laboratory for Particle Physics near Geneva, has ordered four vessels for cryogenic service from the Jotne Group.
