Det ble valgt norsk når det første skrittet skulle tas inn i en ny tid for byggeindustrien i BeNeLux-landene: Jotne EPM Technology, Oslo, har nemlig nettopp undertegnet en kontrakt med nederlenderne for levering av en IKT-plattform som radikalt vi forenkle planlegging og prosjektering i byggenæringen. Kontrakten er verd flere millioner kroner. Norsk teknologi på området har igjen vist at den er verdensledende.

Two of three international prices to Norway during the BuildingSMART conference in Washington this week. The norwegian company Jotne EPM Technology as well as the norwegian branch of BuildingSMART was presented as the leaders in strong competition with companies from all over the world.

Graphisoft is working with a consortium of application partners to implement Jotne EPM Technology’s EDMserver™ as a virtual building repository. The EDMserver™ is possibly the most innovative technical approach to the future of Building Information Modeling (BIM), enabling any user to share and exchange building data with anyone anywhere.

“buildingSMART” is a term that is rapidly coming to have significant meaning within the building construction industry worldwide. Originally adopted by the International Alliance for Interoperability (IAI) as an easier way to describe its objectives, and even as an alternative name to IAI, it is very quickly coming to represent a whole class of technology and solutions which the industry sees as its future.

Representatives of building organizations in Norway and the Netherlands recently decided to join forces to develop an international data reference library for the construction and building industries.

After four months in development, ByggSøk was officially launched in summer 2003 and implemented by Jotne EPM Technology as a fixed price contract. According to the Ministry of Local Government and Regional Development, ByggSøk has an enormous cost-saving potential.

As a major governmental-building construction client, investor and property owner Statsbygg has been investigating the possibilities for using an open building information model for planning, designing, constructing and operating a pilot project building.

The building industry is moving rapidly towards the adoption of the IFC building models. The industry is also exploring building information management using advanced database technology to support contractual data interchange. These are important, innovative process improvements that are not only enhancing communication and cooperation but also proving very cost effective.
