The Integration PlatformA big issue within most plant projects is to transmit knowledge, experience, models and documentation from one project to the next. This kind of information is normally originated in complex data systems and stored in native databases.
Large projects are normally accomplished by a number of companies running various applications; hence this issue become very soon a question of integration of applications, IT challenges and a cost consuming operations. Jotne EPM Technology provides an integration platform that not only supports the connection of applications, but also constitutes the foundation for building a life long repository with built in functionality like progress tracking, check-out/check-in of assembly modules and quality validation etc. Connecting applicationsFor the need of migration of the content of one database into another database, we offer our tool EDMmodelMigrator™ to facilitate the mapping the objects and structure of the two databases. it is often a good idea to establish a “staging” data store for holding the information during the migration process. By this solution the source output stream doesn’t necessarily need to be coordinated with the target input stream. The EDMserver™ will hold the information in a “staging” database and make it possible to regularly execute quality checks and secure that the information is fully in line with the standard specifications. This secures an accurate and reliable mapping of data fields. Connecting Work ProcessesIf one look further into the life cycle process, one will recognise that the process of connecting applications is a crucial part of the life cycle process. If we then extend the concept of the “staging” database, we will see the concept of the product model repository emerge. The full version EDMserver™ will in this aspect constitute an “as-built” repository built of ISO standardised formats enabling information sharing among numerous applications, project reviewing, geometry viewing and quality assurance. Moreover this repository makes your operations independent of applications that were and those to come. This repository will make it possible to manage the flow of information packages between databases. It makes it possible to track progress of delivery from project partners and view the history of “who delivered what information and when”. This is important when incidences related to a certain point of time must be analysed. |
