The Waste Heat Recovery Units produced by the Jotne Group will be some of the largest structures on the Troll C platform.
The Group has produced several waste heat recovery units (WHRUs) now being used in the North Sea and elsewhere. One recent delivery was to GE Packaged Power (previously Kværner Energy) for installation on Troll C, a floating oil installation operated by Norsk Hydro. Each WHRU recovers 20 MW from the gas turbine exhaust.
The WHRUs use the heat from exhaust gases on the platform to warm water and thus create process heat which can be used for several purposes. By recovering the waste heat, the need for other energy production is substantially reduced.
Jotne Fremo has manufactured and assembled a total of 14 such units on installations on the Norwegian shelf.
